St Just

St Just has the feel of a friendly village but it is classified as a town with its own Town Hall, Town Clock and Town Council. It is within one of the most ancient mining districts in Cornwall which is reflected in the stunning local scenery, it is also the most westerly town in England.

The Market Square is the centre of the town with an abundance of small shops including two small supermarkets, a butcher, two bakers, a fish & chip shop, a gift shop, a fruit and veg shop, a cafe and pubs which serve wonderful meals, there is also a historic 15th century church. Just a few steps further away from the Market Square is a chemist, newsagent, another butcher, artist galleries, more coffee shops, a bookshop, a wool shop, more gift shops and more pubs.

The town also has a historic area called the Plain an Gwarry which is cornish for playing place. This is where open air performances have taken place since medieval times and this tradition continues, especially with the Lafrowda Festival which is a two week community arts and culture celebration seeing musical events taking place in the Market Square leading up to the finale of Lafrowda Day when the town is closed off for a procession of locally made floats and music stages and stalls.

Everything you need is within a short stroll, there is a lovely atmosphere and with the shopping and meals out easily taken care of it leaves you only needing to plan your trips to see the nearby places of interest and stunning scenery.
